Jannik Sinner had some high-octane support in his box during his quarter-final victory over Felix Auger-Aliassime Friday.
Formula One star George Russell, currently second behind Mercedes team-mate Kimi Antonelli in the drivers’ championship, cheered on the second seed and briefly met up with Sinner post-match.
“We are good friends and I was pleased he was in my box,” Sinner said when asked about Russell in his post-match press conference. “When I went to the Grand Prix he invited me to go into his box. We are more like good friends; we support each other.”

Sinner is a big F1 fan and last month during the trophy presentation at the BNP Paribas Open made special mention of Antonelli and his victory in the Chinese Grand Prix, which came on the same weekend Sinner won the Indian Wells title.
Italian football icon Paolo Di Canio was also on hand for Sinner’s match.
