Bopanna & Shelton reach Monte-Carlo QFs

09.04.2025

Partnering for the first time this week, Rohan Bopanna and Ben Shelton are into the quarter-finals of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters after their Wednesday victory against third seeds Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori.

The Indian-American duo rallied to a 2-6, 7-6(4), 10-7 victory that featured a topsy-turvy Match Tie-break. Bopanna and Shelton raced to a 4/0 advantage but moments later, trailed 5/6. Bopanna and Shelton won five of the next six points to seal their place in the last eight.

Bopanna and Shelton will next meet Romain Arneodo and Manuel Guinard or singles stars Jack Draper and Tomas Machac. Bopanna won the Monte-Carlo title in 2017 alongside Pablo Cuevas.

Top seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic extended their winning streak to 11 with a 6-3, 3-6, 10-7 win against Frenchmen Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul. Arevalo and Pavic are aiming for their third consecutive ATP Masters 1000 title, following a triumphant Sunshine Double run, during which they were crowned champions in Indian Wells and Miami.

In the quarter-finals, Arevalo and Pavic face Alex de Minaur and Jan-Lennard Struff.

Seventh seeds Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool also advanced, ousting Petros Tsitsipas and Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-1, 7-6(5).
