Novak Djokovic, defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas and top seed Alexander Zverev have all landed in the same half of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters draw.
The two-time champion Djokovic reached the semi-finals at the ATP Masters 1000 event last year and could face Swiss wild card Stan Wawrinka in his opening match if the former World No. 3 overcomes Alejandro Tabilo in the first round. Djokovic leads Wawrinka 21-6 in their Head2Head series with their most notable meeting on clay the 2015 Roland Garros final, which Wawrinka won.
Djokovic arrives in Monte-Carlo off the back of a final run in Miami and he will be aiming to capture his 100th tour-level title at the clay-court tournament. The 37-year-old is seeded to meet Grigor Dimitrov in the third round and either Alex de Minaur or Daniil Medvedev in the quarter-finals.
Projected 2025 #RolexMonteCarloMasters quarter-finals (by seeding):
(1) Zverev vs Tsitsipas (6)
(3) Djokovic vs De Minaur (8)(5) Draper vs Ruud (4)
(7) Rublev vs Alcaraz (2)— Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters (@ROLEXMCMASTERS) April 4, 2025
In the same half, Tsitsipas is chasing his fourth crown in five years in The Principality. The sixth-seeded Greek will meet Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard or Jordan Thompson in his opener and could take on 2023 finalist Holger Rune in the third round. Top seed Zverev is a potential quarter-final opponent for Tsitsipas.
The German, who is a two-time semi-finalist in Monte-Carlo, could play Matteo Berrettini in the second round. The German is seeded to face Lorenzo Musetti in the third round and Tsitsipas in the last eight. Djokovic is a potential semi-finalist for Zverev or Tsitsipas.
In the bottom half, Carlos Alcaraz opens against Italian wild card and 2019 winner Fabio Fognini or Francisco Cerundolo. The second-seeded Spaniard could face Felix Auger-Aliassime in the third round, Andrey Rublev or Arthur Fils in the quarter-finals and Jack Draper or Casper Ruud in the semi-finals. Draper improved to 2-3 in his Lexus ATP Head2Head series against Alcaraz en route to his Indian Wells title last month.
Fifth seed Draper will play Denis Shapovalov or Marcos Giron in the second round and could meet Ben Shelton in the third round. Shelton starts against former finalist Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Fourth seed Ruud reached the final last year and has won 11 of his 12 tour-level titles on clay. The Norwegian meets Brandon Nakashima or Roberto Bautista Agut in the second round.
