Today’s blockbuster semi-final line-up at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters has caught the attention of five-time major golf champion Rory McIlroy, who will take a six-shot lead into Day 3 of The Masters in Augusta.
The defending champion has plenty of time to kill before his 2:50 p.m. tee time with Sam Burns. He was asked what he would do to stay relaxed and keep his mind off the huge lead. Turns out that watching a little tennis will be part of his preparation.
“I’ll try to take my mind off it; distraction is usually a good thing for me, especially with a late tee time and the lead,” McIlroy said.
“There’s actually two really good semi-finals in Monte-Carlo in the tennis, so I’ll watch that. You’ve got Sinner and Zverev and Vacherot and Alcaraz. We’ve been watching the tennis early in the mornings.”
McIlroy is a big tennis fan an attended last month’s Miami Open.
