07.04.2024

Luca Nardi qualified for the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters for the second consecutive year on Sunday when he clawed past Frenchman Alexandre Muller 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.

The 20-year-old Italian advanced to the second round at the clay-court ATP Masters 1000 event and will have the chance to do the same this year after his two-hour, 44-minute triumph.

Federico Coria and Sumit Nagal both qualified for the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters for the first time. The Argentine Coria, who reached tour-level semi-finals in Cordoba and Buenos Aires in February, defeated Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

India’s Nagal overcame Facundo Diaz Acosta 6-5, 2-6, 6-2 to reach the first round. Earlier this season, Nagal broke the Top 100 in the PIF ATP Rankings for the first time.

Jaume Munar, who has reached the second-round in Monte-Carlo twice, beat Yannick Hanfmann 6-7(7), 6-1, 7-5 to secure his spot in the main draw.

Corentin Moutet defeated Daniel Altmaier 6-2, 6-4, while Christopher O’Connell beat Aleksandar Vukic 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(5). Roberto Bautista Augt, who overcame former Top 10 star Dominic Thiem in the first qualifying round, moved past Lorenzo Sonego 6-1, 2-6, 6-2.
