Hugo Nys got the better of Romain Arneodo when the Monegasque duo went head-to-head on the doubles court Wednesday.
Nys and French partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin held their nerve in a match tie-break to defeat Arneodo and Pierre-Hugues Herbert 6-4, 6-7(3), 10-4 to advance to their second consecutive ATP Masters 1000 quarter-final.
Arneodo won the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters title last year with Manuel Guinard and in 2023 reached the final with Sam Weissborn.
Fifth seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic advanced to the quarter-finals with a 6-4, 7-6(5) win over Austin Krajicek and Nikola Mektic.
In earlier action, Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler beat Sadio Doumbia and Fabien Reboul 6-4, 7-5.
Guido Andreozzi and Manuel Guinard advanced when Zizou Bergs and Jannik Sinner (blister) withdrew.
