Press conference – Monaco

16.02.2024

On Thursday 15 February, the Monte-Carlo Hotel & Resort hosted the traditional Press Conference to present the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, which will take place this year from 6 to 14 April on the legendary clay courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club, presided over by Mlle Mélanie-Antoinette de Massy.

In front of several guests, including Patrice Cellario, Government Councillor – Minister of the Interior, and Andrea Gaudenzi, President of the ATP, as well as partners and journalists, the Tournament Director, David Massey, revealed the major novelties of this 117th edition.

During his speech, the Tournament Director presented the figures and achievements of the 2023 event (over 140,000 spectators, 38.4 million TV viewers and 167.1 million views on social networks) and in particular innovations for the upcoming event: the launch of a “click & collect” service for the fast food catering service, modification of the sea-side stand on Court Rainier III to create more boxes, creation of a new indoor restaurant area, new partnership with France Télévisions which will broadcast one match per day on France TV and the final on France 4, in addition to all matches being broadcast on Eurosport France.

David Massey also announced that once again the tournament supported the GEMLUC association (Groupement des entreprises monégasques dans la lutte contre le cancer) which finances research and latest technology material.

In regard to player participation, David Massey stated that the “final list will be revealed in Paris during the Press Conference on 12 March”. Concerning ticket sales, nearly 130.000 seats have already been sold and it is very likely Italian fans will be once again present this year, particularly since Jannik Sinner was the winner of the Australian Open.

Organised by the S.M.E.T.T. (Société Monégasque pour l’Exploitation du Tournoi de Tennis), the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is the first Masters 1000 of the clay season and, to a certain extent, launches the summer season on the Riviera.

The Draw will take place on Friday 5 April at 6.00 pm and will be broadcast live on Monaco Info as well as on their Facebook page and on that of the Tournament.
