A 118th Edition focused on expansion

This Thursday, at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, the official hotel of the tournament, David Massey, the tournament director, presented the key details for the upcoming edition of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters. The event will take place from April 5 to 13, 2025, on the iconic clay courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club, chaired by Miss Mélanie-Antoinette de Massy.

Organized by the Société Monégasque pour l’Exploitation du Tournoi de Tennis, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is the first European tournament in the ATP Masters 1000 category.

Much like the Formula 1 Grand Prix or the Monaco Yacht Show, the entire Principality will live to the rhythm of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters for a week, marking the start of the season in the Principality.

After briefly reviewing the 2024 edition, which was marked by the return of Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipás to the top, David Massey announced that the 118th edition will begin with a draw at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort. This event, scheduled for Friday, April 4 at 5 p.m., will be opened by the defending champion and broadcast live on Monaco Info.

An Exceptional Line-up Promises to Attract a Large Audience

Although the final list of the 45 players automatically qualified for the main draw will not be revealed until March 11, 2025, the official registration deadline with the ATP, the tournament director is confident about the quality of the field for this edition.

Each year, the tournament generates exceptional enthusiasm. In the previous edition, it attracted over 148,000 spectators on-site and captivated more than 36 million viewers, with over 9,000 hours of linear broadcasting across 185 markets. The 2024 edition also saw resounding success on social media, with over 240 million views.

Monte-Carlo Beach Club Privatized for Players

In order to offer the best possible conditions for the players, the tournament organizers have announced the privatization of the prestigious Monte-Carlo Beach Club, which will become the Players’ Village. This exceptional haven will be entirely reserved for the players, their staff, and families, ensuring a unique living environment. Between relaxation and absolute comfort, they will enjoy breathtaking sea views, high-end catering services, and a calming atmosphere. This “Players’ Village” will be a special feature reflecting the excellence and prestige of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.

David Massey emphasized: “We wanted to enhance the players’ experience by expanding the site by 35%, in order to offer them an optimal and as attractive space as possible. This major development is part of a long-term strategy for future editions of the tournament.”

He also added: “We haven’t forgotten the fans. With a maximum seating capacity, we plan to increase the number of buses and trains available for the event. Their comfort remains a priority, with the renewal of the Click & Collect service and the installation of new on-site facilities.”

New Features of the 118th Edition

Court No. 2 has been renamed Court Elizabeth-Ann de Massy in tribute to the woman who worked tirelessly for the development of tennis in the Principality. It will now become the third main numbered/independent court of the tournament, hosting four matches per day from Saturday, April 5 to Thursday, April 10, providing an additional stage for the greatest clashes of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters. David Massey encouraged tennis enthusiasts to book their tickets on the official website without delay. Next Monday, February 10, the tournament will open ticket sales for the Court Elizabeth-Ann de Massy.

On the umpiring side, a major technological advance will be introduced: for the first time, the Hawk-Eye system and Video Review will be implemented. These innovations will eliminate controversies over questionable balls by allowing umpires and players to verify decisions with precision through instant replays. This ensures transparency and fairness, further enhancing the prestige of the Monaco tournament.

Partnerships

David Massey took the opportunity to thank all the tournament’s partners, starting with the title sponsor Rolex. In anticipation of the 2025 edition, the tournament has extended its partnerships with BNP Paribas, Replay, Malongo, Onet, Lancaster, Valmora, and Monaco Telecom. The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters also welcomes a new partner, luxury eyewear brand Oliver Peoples.

Ongoing Charitable Action

After recalling that, in partnership with BNP Paribas, the tournament raised 37,204 euros last year for GEMLUC through the “Points for Change” initiative, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters reaffirmed its charitable commitment.

Committed to continuing the tournament’s development in the tradition of its predecessors, David Massey announced the return of two unmissable events: the Children’s Day, to be held on Sunday, April 6, and the prestigious Grand Tennis Night, organized since 1992 in the legendary Salle des Étoiles at the Sporting Monte-Carlo.
