Paris, 11 March 2025 – With less than a month to go until the start of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, David Massey, the Tournament Director, today officially announced the list of players competing in the 118th edition of the tournament. The press lunch, organised in association with Lenôtre, took place at the Hôtel de Poulpry in the historic district of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in the presence of Ms Melanie-Antoinette de Massy, President of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters and of the Monte-Carlo Country Club.
The tournament, which will be played on the legendary clay courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club from 5th to 13th April 2025, is the first of the ATP Masters 1000 tournaments of the European clay season.
International reach
Like the Formula 1 Grand Prix and the Monaco Yacht Show, the entire Principality comes alive for nine days to the rhythm of the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters, marking the start of the summer season. Last year’s event attracted over 148,000 spectators.
David Massey took the opportunity to thank all the tournament’s partners, starting with title sponsor Rolex. For 2025, the tournament has extended its partnerships with BNP Paribas, Replay, Malongo, Onet, Lancaster, Valmora and Monaco Telecom. The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters will also welcome a new partner in luxury eyewear brand Oliver Peoples.
In 2024, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters generated over 240 million social media impressions and attracted 36 million viewers worldwide. Eurosport will once again broadcast all the matches. This coverage will be complemented by France Télévisions, which will broadcast one match per day on its france.tv platform and the final on France 4, as well as numerous other international broadcasters, including Sky Italia, Sky UK and Sky Germany.
An exceptional line-up: 9 out of 10
With the exception of world number one Jannik Sinner, who is suspended for three months from 15 February 2025, David Massey announced that this 118th edition will feature 9 of the Top 10 players on the ATP Tour. The following players will be in attendance: Germany’s Alexander Zverev (No. 2), the 2025 Australian Open finalist, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz (No. 3), the United States’ Taylor Fritz (No. 4), Norway’s Casper Ruud (No. 5), Daniil Medvedev (No. 6), Andrey Rublev (No. 7), Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas (No. 9), the three-time winner of the Monte Carlo tournament, and Australia’s Alex de Minaur (No. 10). In total, 42 of the Top 45 players will be competing on the clay courts in Monaco.
On the French side, Marseille winner and Rolex Paris Masters finalist Ugo Humbert (No. 19), Arthur Fils (No. 21), Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (No. 30), Gaël Monfils (No. 42) and Alexandre Muller (No.44) will also be present.
The single main draw will be completed by seven qualifiers and four wild cards, bringing the total number of players to 56. 28 teams will also be competing in the doubles main draw.
Modernised facilities for an unrivalled experience
Founded in 1897, the tournament continues to innovate to provide an immersive experience for both players and spectators. Among the new features:
• The renaming of Court No. 2 to Court Elizabeth-Ann de Massy in honour of a legendary figure in Monaco tennis. This new main court will have numbered seats and will host four matches a day from Saturday 5th April to Thursday 10th April.
• A 35% expansion of the site, including the privatisation of the Monte-Carlo Beach Club, has been transformed into an exclusive space for players and their families – the Players’ Village.
“With its exceptional setting and breathtaking sea views, we wanted to offer players an even more attractive and functional environment. This expansion marks an important step in the tournament’s development and is part of a long-term vision for future editions,” said David Massey, emphasising the importance of the public. “The fans remain at the heart of our priorities. With maximum seating capacity, we have sought to improve their comfort and ease of movement around the venue, notably with the renewal of the Click & Collect service and the installation of new facilities on site”.
• The introduction of automated line calling & video review
For the first time in its history, the tournament will replace line judges with the Electronic Line Calling Live (ELC Live) system. Based on Hawk-Eye technology, this advanced officiating system covers all court lines for ‘out’ calls throughout matches. In addition, the Video Review feature will allow chair umpires and players to accurately review disputed calls through instant replays covering all game situations.
A commitment to solidarity and exclusive events
The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters reaffirms its commitment to solidarity with the “Points for Change” initiative in partnership with BNP Paribas. In 2024, this initiative raised over €37,000 for GEMLUC (Group of Monegasque Companies Fighting Cancer). This year, the tournament will once again focus on solidarity and sustainable development initiatives.
Save the dates: 5-13 April 2025
The 118th edition will open with the Draw at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, the official tournament hotel, on Friday 4th April at 5:00pm in the presence of Stefanos Tsitsipas, the defending champion.
The first weekend will begin on Saturday with a mini tennis exhibition at Mareterra, in the heart of the new district of the Principality, to the delight of children. They will also be celebrated on Sunday with a day dedicated to children, offering them a unique immersion in the world of the tournament.
