Fognini, Wawrinka and Vacherot join Gasquet to complete the Main Draw Singles Wild Cards

Monaco, 2nd April 2025 – After awarding the first wild card to Richard Gasquet, Tournament Director David Massey today unveiled the names of the three other beneficiaries for the singles main draw wild cards.

These precious invitations have been granted to three renowned players:

• Fabio Fognini (ITA): Winner of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters in 2019, the former World No. 9 is returning to a tournament close to his hometown. His Monte-Carlo triumph in 2019, which included a semifinal victory over Rafael Nadal, was the crowning moment of a career that includes nine ATP titles and over 400 match wins. With his exceptional shot-making and flair, Fognini returns to a venue where he’s not just a past champion, but a fan favourite.

• Stan Wawrinka (SUI): The three-time Grand Slam champion (Australian Open 2014, Roland-Garros 2015, US Open 2016) and former World No. 3 lifted the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters trophy in 2014, defeating Roger Federer in the final. The Swiss man holds an impressive track record at the tournament, amassing 22 victories. His experience and talent promise to deliver a captivating performance.

• Valentin Vacherot (MON): The Monegasque No. 1 will have an opportunity to defend the colours of the Principality in front of his home crowd. He recently delivered a standout performance in the Davis Cup by beating the then World No. 37 Nuno Borges to set up Monaco’s decisive match against Portugal. This will be his third main draw appearance at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters.

These champions join an exceptional field that includes 42 of the world’s Top 45 players, including 9 members of the ATP Top 10.

Wild Cards for the singles qualifying draw

• Pierre-Hugues Herbert (FRA): A former world number 36, the Frenchman has played Monte-Carlo five times, qualifying on three occasions. Currently ranked 169th, he will be hoping to return to top form on the Monaco clay.

• Dusan Lajovic (SRB): A finalist at the 2019 Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, the Serb, currently ranked 109th, returns with the ambition of rediscovering the form that saw him reach the final.

• Gabriel Diallo (CAN): The Canadian, currently ranked 81, is a rising star on the international tennis scene. His recent achievements include reaching the third round of the US Open last year, where he defeated Arthur Fils. He also reached the final of the ATP 250 event in Kazakhstan last October.

• Nikolai Budkov Kjaer (NOR): At just 18 years of age, the Norwegian is ranked 287 and has made a strong impression by winning the ITF World Champion title in 2024. His impressive junior record includes a singles title at Wimbledon 2024, a runner-up finish at the US Open 2024, a doubles title at Roland-Garros 2024 and a semi-final appearance at the Australian Open 2024. A member of the Monte-Carlo Country Club since 2018, the young prodigy has also won the M.C.C.C. summer junior tournament in the U12, U13 and U14 categories between 2018 and 2020, as well as the Tennis Europe Junior Masters Monte-Carlo U16 in 2022.

Wild Cards for the doubles main draw

• Romain Arneodo (MON) / Manuel Guinard (FRA): A Franco-Monegasque duo looking to shine on home soil.
• Petros Tsitsipas (GRE) / Stefanos Tsitsipas (GRE): The Tsitsipas brothers, of whom Stefanos is a former singles champion at the tournament, will put on an exciting show.
• Arthur Rinderknech (FRA) / Valentin Vacherot (MON): A strong team looking to make an impact in the doubles competition with the support of the home crowd.

A draw in the presence of Stefanos Tsitsipas
