Opening play on court Rainier III Sunday, Sinner teamed with Zizou Bergs to defeat Tomas Machac and Casper Ruud 6-4, 7-5.

In other results, fifth seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic scored a tight 3-6, 7-6(4), 10-8 win over cousins Arthur Rinderknech and Valentin Vacherot, who recently reached the Indian Wells final in their team debut.

In a battle of four Top 30 singles players, Jiri Lehecka and Jakub Mensik defeated Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev 6-3, 6-4. Singles third seed Alexander Zverev teamed with Marcelo Melo to defeat Luke Johnson and Jan Zielinski 6-3, 6-3.
