A promising 2015 edition

It was in the Salle America of the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort and in front of numerous Monegasque personalities, media and representatives of the tournament partners that the Tournament Director, Zeljko Franulovic, revealed the major moments of the next Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters. Organised by the SMETT (Societe Monegasque pour l’Exploitation du Tournoi de Tennis), the first ATP World Tour Masters 1000 of the European season, will take place from 11th April to 19th April 2015 in the prestigious setting of the Monte-Carlo Country Club.

“Last year, Stan Wawrinka added his name to the list of tournament winners when he beat his idol and friend Roger Federer. We had the privilege of attending a final of top level tennis between two great players who later went on to confirm their great form by winning, with their usual class, the 2014 final of the Davis Cup”, said Zeljko Franulovic.

Even if the final list of the 45 players directly accepted ointo the Main Draw will only be known on 16th March, official deadline for ATP entries, the Director of the Monegasque event seemed very confident concerning the 2015 draw which is expected to be just as exceptional. Novak Djokovic, world number 1 and recent winner of the Australian Open, Rafael Nadal, eight-time winner of the Tournament and Marin Cilic, last winner of the US Open, have been among the first to sign up for this 109th edition. Zeljko Franulovic advised tennis enthusiasts to reserve their seats as quickly as possible because, as each year, the Tournament is in great demand.

The Draw, organized on Saturday 11th April at 12.30 pm in the new building of the Monaco Yacht Club, will be preceded at 11.30 by a mini-tennis exhibition between two of the best world players on the upper decks of the flagship designed by Lord Norman Foster and inaugurated on 20th June 2014.

Also to take place, as every year, is the players’ show, an authentic tournament exclusivity for almost 60 years, as well as the Gala Evening “La Grande Nuit du Tennis”, organized in the Salle des Etoiles with the spectacular rock ballet “Romeo and Juliet”, danced show exclusively by the American Dance Company “Bad Boys of Dance”, for the first time in France and Monaco, and for one unique performance.

Continuing its commitment to charities, the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters joins forces with Marin Cilic‘s initiative “Marin & Friends”, organized on the Centre Court on Saturday 11th April at 2.30 pm.

Present at the Press Conference, the Monaco resident shared his great enthusiasm: “I am delighted to announce our support of two charity foundations: “Special Olympics”, whose patron is H.S.H. Princess Charlene of Monaco and “Fight Aids Monaco”, presided over by H.S.H. Stephanie of Monaco.

We will be bringing together some of the great champions of the Top 10, including Novak Djokovic, Milos Raonic and Grigor Dimitrov as well as legendary players such as Ivan Ljubicic and Goran Ivanisevic. I would like to thank them for their generosity and their time.

Believe me, by coming and attending this very convivial event, you will spend an enjoyable and entertaining day while helping the good cause”.
