Delbonis Earns Spot In Main Draw
Federico Delbonis defeated 2017 finalist Albert Ramos-Vinolas 7-5, 6-0 on Sunday to book his place in the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters main draw.
Entering the match with a 3-2 record against Ramos-Vinolas, Delbonis broke the Spaniard on six occasions to advance after 78 minutes. The Argentine will be joined in the main draw by #NextGenATP Australian Alexei Popyrin. The 19-year-old beat Elias Ymer of Sweden 6-3, 7-6(2).
Andrey Rublev converted two of three break points to eliminate Ugo Humbert 6-4, 6-4. There were also straight-set wins for Juan Ignacio Londero and Aljaz Bedene. Londero raced past Thomas Fabbiano 6-4, 6-1, while Bedene edged Taro Daniel 7-6(5), 6-3.
On Court 2, Guido Andreozzi also confirmed his spot in the main draw after notching a 6-3, 6-1 win over Italian wild card Julian Ocleppo. Andreozzi saved all three break points he faced in the 77-minute clash.
