On track for the 113th edition
The traditional press conference took place this Tuesday 5th February 2019 at the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort in Monaco to present the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, which will take place from 13th to 21st April 2019 on the legendary clay courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club. Addressing numerous guests, sponsors and journalists, the Tournament Director Zeljko Franulovic thanked the audience before revealing the principal novelties of the 113th edition.
The title holder, Rafael Nadal, will start the ball rolling with the Draw ceremony organised in the gardens of the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort on Friday 12th April at 6.00 pm. For the first time, it will be broadcast live on Monaco Info as well as on the channel’s Facebook page.
The Tournament Director also presented the new infrastructures, which will be finished next April. The new building will house the players’ restaurant in addition to a new interview room, adapted to the ATP Masters 1000 standards.
In regard to players’ participation, Zeljko Franulovic stated: “Above all, we hope they will be spared from injuries and, as each year, we are expecting to see the best world players. Obviously, topping the list is Rafael Nadal, one of the first to enter, and who seems very decided to defend his title, with his habitual determination.”
Organised by the S.M.E.T.T. (Société Monégasque pour l’Exploitation du Tournoi de Tennis), the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is the first European tournament in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category.
