One day before kick-off!

Deprived of the tournament last year following its cancellation due to the international health situation, all the elite of World Tennis is back on the courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club, from April 10th to 18th, 2021.

Organised by the S.M.E.T.T. (Société Monégasque pour l’Exploitation du Tournoi de Tennis), in compliance with the public health protocol established in consultation with the French authorities and with the support of the Monegasque Government, the ATP Masters 1000 tournament will be played behind closed doors, in accordance with the latest French government provisions to extend the state of health emergency until June 1, 2021. The first time in the history of its 114 editions.

56 of the best world players will be present for the first major clay court competition of the European season, led by the top three in the FedEx ATP ranking: the Serbian Novak Djokovic (No. 1), the Russian Daniil Medvedev (No. 2) and the Spaniard Rafael Nadal (No. 3), eleven times winner on the Monegasque courts.

Concerning the French players, six have been directly admitted: Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet, Adrian Mannarino, Ugo Humbert, Benoît Paire and Jérémy Chardy. The organisers have decided to give a wild card to Lucas Pouille, who is already in the Principality and trained last Friday on the court Rainier III of the Monte-Carlo Country Club with the Monaco resident Novak Djokovic, determined to secure his place of No.1, currently threatened by Daniil Medvedev. The other three invitations went to the Monegasque Lucas Catarina, the Italian Lorenzo Musetti and the Dane Holger Rune, winner of Roland Garros junior tournament in 2019.

Faced with such a field of players, the 2021 vintage promises to be very open.

The 2021 edition of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters will kick off on Friday April 9th, with the traditional draw at 6.30 p.m.
