Tomic Headlines First Day’s Play
Bernard Tomic is set to open his Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters campaign on Sunday when he faces Lukas Rosol in the first round of the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 clay-court tournament.
The 22-year-old Tomic is up to a career-high World No. 27 in the Emirates ATP Rankings after a strong showing in the March Masters in Indian Wells and Miami. He has already beaten Rosol once this year, in Davis Cup action in February.
Following Tomic in action on Court Central is Mikhail Youzhny, who takes on Florian Mayer. Mayer is returning to action after 12 months on the sidelines due to a groin injury. It will be the pair’s ninth meeting.
The only other main draw first-round match on Sunday sees Dominican Republic favourite Victor Estrella Burgos face Italian Simone Bolelli.
