Tuesday 11 February 2020, Zeljko Franulovic, the Tournament Director, revealed the highlights of the 114th edition of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, which will take place from 11 to 19 April 2020, on the legendary clay courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club.

After speaking about the memorable moments of the preceding edition, the Tournament Director announced that the ATP has awarded the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters the “Award of Excellence for the most improved venue in 2019″. This prize acknowledges the new infrastructures that were inaugurated last year, including a player restaurant and lounge, and interview room.

The 2020 edition will see the opening of a cocktail bar in the former Rolex Boutique on the terrace of the Monte-Carlo Country Club. The other novelties of this 114th tournament include a new tournament poster designed by the American artist Lee Wybranski, and a new partnership signed with the insurance company Generali.

A mini-tennis exhibition will organised on Saturday 11 April in the newly designed gardens of Place de Casino, with two of the best tournament players.

In regard to the players, Zeljko Franulovic stated: “In addition to the world’s No. 1 and No. 2 Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal who have already confirmed their participation, we are looking forward to welcoming the best world players as is the case each year. The list of players can be seen on our website as of 19 March.

The title-holder of the tournament, Fabio Fognini, will be present at the draw ceremony which will take place on the terrace of the Thermes Marins de Monte-Carlo on Friday 10 April at 6.30 pm. It will be broadcast live on Monaco Info, as well as on its Facebook page.

Mr. Manigley, Chairman of the SMETT took the opportunity to announce the arrival of Chris Kermode, former CEO of the ATP World Tour, within the organising team of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters as special consultant.

Organised by the Société Monégasque pour l’Exploitation du Tournoi de Tennis (S.M.E.T.T.), the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is the first European tournament in the ATP Masters 1000 category.
