Paris, Tuesday 15th March 2022 – It was during the traditional press lunch organized in Paris that Zeljko Franulovic , the Tournament Director, revealed the list of 45 players automatically admitted into the Main Draw, and presented the highlights of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters 2022 Organized by
the SMETT (Société Monégasque pour l’Exploitation du Tournoi de Tennis), the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, which will take place from 9th – 17th April 2022 in the legendary setting of the Monte-Carlo Country Club (MCCC), is the first European tournament in the prestigious ATP Tour Masters 1000 category.

“After a 2021 edition organized for the first time behind closed doors, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters 2022 should see a return to normal, with the stands full of spectators displaying their enthusiasm during the matches, strolling through the aisles of the Village with its shops and restaurants or taking part in the various activities offered throughout the week,”announced Zeljko Franulovic. This was also the opportunity to announce the arrival of three new partners: Generali, Maserati and Replay and to thank all the partners who have remained loyal to the tournament despite the circumstances. Rolex has also renewed its partnership for the next 10 years and BNP Paribas for another 3 years.
Kick-off will take place with the Draw on the terraces of the Thermes Marins de Monte-Carlo on Friday 8th April at 5 pm ., in the presence of the defending champion Stefanos Tsitsipas. The unprecedented final of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters 2021, which saw him competing against another young talent, Andrey Rublev , undoubtedly brought a breath of fresh air to world tennis; the younger generation becoming more and more daring and uninhibited.
A mini-tennis exhibition will be organized on Saturday 9th April in the heart of the Principality, on the emblematic Place du Casino de Monte-Carlo, with the participation of two of the best tournament players to celebrate the launch of the 115th edition of the tournament.
An exceptional Draw
Alongside world No. 1Daniil Medvedev,winner of the last US Open,all of the top 10 playerswill take part in the famous Monegasque Masters 1000 this year, includingNovak Djokovic, winner of 3 Grand Slams in 2021,Rafael Nadal, 11 times winner of the tournament and recent winner of the Australian Open,Alexander Zverev,Olympic champion andStefanos Tsitsipas, the title holder. On the French side, most of the French players will be present, includingGael MonfilsandUgo Humbert.

Added to this Main Draw will be 7 players from the qualifiers, as well as the 4 wild cards, thus a total of 56 players. Zeljko Franulovic also made the exclusive announcement regarding the first wild cards, which were granted to three-time Grand Slam winnerStan Wawrinka, who won the first Masters 1000 of his career in Monaco in 2014 and toJo-Wilfried Tsonga, a reference in French tennis and semi-finalist in the Principality in 2016 after his victory in 3 sets against Roger Federer. In doubles, the organizers wished to attribute the first invitation toHugo Nys and Romain Arneodo, members of the Monaco Davis Cup team and semi-finalists of the tournament in 2017.
A week that promises to be intense, both on the courts and in the stands, with many activities, such as Children’s Day , programmed on Sunday, 10th April and the traditional Grande Nuit du Tennis, organized in the Salle des Etoiles on Friday, 15th April at 8:30 pm
